Genesis 17:15 - "God said to Abraham, 'You must no longer call your wife Sarai; from now on her name is Sarah.'"
(Sarah: This name in Hebrew means "princess." God told Abraham to call his wife princess!)

God's Heart Aches At Our Sadness / He Calls Us To Choose Life

Isaiah 30:15, 18 - "The Sovereign Lord, the Holy One of Israel, says to the people, 'Come back and quietly trust in me. Then you will be strong and secure.' But you refuse to do it. And yet the Lord is waiting to be merciful to you. He is ready to take pity on you because he always does what is right. Happy are those who put their trust in the Lord."
Luke 13:34 - "How many times I wanted to put my arms around all your people, just as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you would not let me!"
Isaiah 65:1, 2 - "The Lord said, 'I was ready to answer my people's prayers, but they did not pray. I was ready for them to find me, but they did not even try. The nation did not pray to me, even though I was always ready to answer, 'Here I am; I will help you.' I have always been ready to welcome my people, who stubbornly do what is wrong and go their own way."
Hosea 11:1-4, 8 - "The Lord says, 'When Israel was a child, I loved him and called him out of Egypt as my son. But the more I called to him, the more he turned away from me. My people sacrificed to Baal; they burned incense to idols. Yet I was the one who taught Israel to walk. I took my people up in my arms, but they did not acknowledge that I took care of them. I drew them to me with affection and love. I picked them up and held them to my cheek; I bent down to them and fed them. How can I give you up, Israel? How can I abandon you? ... My heart will not let me do it! My love for you is too strong.'"
Isaiah 57: 18, 19 - "'I have seen how they acted, but I will heal them. I will lead them and help them, and I will comfort those who mourn. I offer peace to all, both near and far! I will heal my people.'"
Jeremiah 8:4, 5 - "The Lord told me to say to his people, "When someone falls down, doesn't he get back up? If someone misses the road, doesn't he turn back? Why then, my people, do you turn away from me with out ever turning back?"
Deuteronomy 30:19 - "'I am now giving you the choice between life and death, between God's blessing and God's curse, and I call heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Choose life.'"
Ezekiel 33:11 - "'Tell the people that as surely as I, the Sovereign Lord, am the living God, I do not enjoy seeing a sinner die. I would rather see him stop sinning and live. Israel, stop the evil you are doing. Why do you want to die?'"

God Longs To Give Us Happiness

Genesis 2:8, 9 - "Then the Lord God planted a garden in Eden, in the East, and there he put the man he had formed. He made all kinds of beautiful trees grow there and produce good fruit."

Romans 8:15, 16 - "For the Spirit that God has given you does not make you slaves and cause you to be afraid; instead, the Spirit makes you God's children, and by the Spirit's power we cry out to God, 'Father! My Father!' God's Spirit joins himself to our spirits to declare that we are God's children."
Romans 5:6, 10 - "For when we were still helpless, Christ died for the wicked at the time that God chose. We were God's enemies, but he made us his friends through the death of his Son."

Matthew 14:15, 16 - "That evening his disciples came to him and said, 'It is already very late, and this is a lonely place. Send the people away and let them go to the villages to buy food for themselves.' 'They don't have to leave,' answered Jesus. 'You yourselves give them something to eat!'" (5,000 men)
Matthew 15:32 - "Jesus called his disciples to him and said, 'I feel sorry for these people, because they have been with me for three days and now have nothing to eat. I don't want to send them away without feeding them, for they might faint on their way home.'" (4,000 men)

Jesus Healed The Physical Sicknesses Of People

Mark 10:46-49 - "They came to Jericho, and as Jesus was leaving with his disciples and a large crowd, a blind beggar named Bartimaeus son of Timaeus was sitting by the road. When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout, 'Jesus! Son of David! Have mercy on me!' Many of the people scolded him and told him to be quiet. But he shouted even more loudly, 'Son of David, have mercy on me!' Jesus stopped and said, 'Call him.' So they called the blind man. 'Cheer up!' they said. 'Get up, he is calling you.'"
Mark 1:40, 41 - "A man suffering from a dreaded skin disease came to Jesus, knelt down, and begged him for help. 'If you want to,' he said, 'you can make me clean.' Jesus was filled with pity, and reached out and touched him. 'I do want to,' he answered. 'Be clean!'"

John 11:33-35 - "Jesus saw her weeping, and he saw how the people with her were weeping also; his heart was touched, and he was deeply moved. 'Where have you buried him?' he asked them. 'Come and see, Lord,' they answered. Jesus wept."
Mark 10:13-16 - "Some people brought children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them, but the disciples scolded the people. When Jesus noticed this, he was angry and said to his disciples, 'Let the children come to me, and do not stop them, because the Kingdom of God belongs to such as these. I assure you that whoever does not receive the Kingdom of God like a child will never enter it.' Then he took the children in his arms, placed his hands on each of them, and blessed them."

Jesus Was Compassionate To The People
